So, the other day…Melt Cosmetics posted this photo on their Instagram page:

I was so thankful for this, because it gave me ideas on what eye looks to do. It really sucks when you want to do eye looks, but have difficulty coming up with color combinations. If any of you followed me for years, you know that this is how I started off. I’ve always had an eye look that was colorful. To be honest…looking back at those old photos make me cringe (LOL), but I am more than willing to divulge in wearing color more than I have been wearing for the past year or so. It is just so time consuming. Oye vey!

Today, I went with color combination #3. I wasn’t sure how that was going to come out…but this is when you have to use your creativity, right?! LOL. I ended up loving how it came out.

Here’s the products I used:

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème in M27 (eye base), Colourpop lip liner in Kae, Senna Cosmetics Powder Brow Pencil in Dark Brown, MAC Liptensity lipstick in Smoked Almond, Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation in Medium 62, Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, MAC Prep + Prime 24 Hour Eye Extend Base (eye primer), NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger (Brow Highlight), Make Up For Ever XL pencil (water line), Lucy Minerals Mineral Liner in Matte Black (upper lash line-forgot to include it in the photo), Sterling Minerals bronzer in Golden Rose (on cheeks), Melt Cosmetics eye shadows in Rubbish (transition), Dark Matter (outer lid and lower lash line), Xenon (lower lash line), Promiscuous (lid) and Harsh Stone White (tear duct and a bit as a brow highlight), Cinema Secrets Ultralucent Setting Powder in Soft Custard (to set foundation) and Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix setting spray (to finish)

And here’s how they look on my face:

‘Really loved how it came out! Makeup is becoming fun again, for me.

Stay tuned for more! ❤

  1. Very pretty. I will be wearing this look this weekend, Don’t cringe at the old pictures. I still wear your older looks, I just make the color softer.

    1. Thank you! 🙂

That’s the key…colorful eyes, yet managing to keep it soft! I also prefer to keep the lips “neutral” when doing colorful eyes instead of having many focuses on the face. LOL. Balance is also key.

Even though I cringe at my old photos, at least I learned what not to do. LOL. Thank goodness.

  2. I totally agree. I have always been a nude or neutral lip and very little on the cheeks fan with colorful eyes. As the celebrity Dior makeup artist Ricky Wilson said when I took his class “the key is to isolate the color so you don’t walk around looking like a clown foolish mess”.
