So, I get a package in the mail and I see it’s from NARS. I said to myself “I didn’t order anything from NARS. What could this be?” and then opened the box to see this:
That made my day brighter! What are the chances of winning a contest or a sweepstakes? I don’t know if any of you receive emails from NARS, but one email they brought you to their site playing music. It was an advertisement of this product. On the page, it listed each lip product shade and each shade had a sound effect. If you choose multiple sounds, it can create a tune. So I picked about five shades which created this psychedelic 70’s sound, a la Isaac Hayes. So, I put in my information and that was it. I was delighted to see that I’ve won a shade, which is NO. 54.
And here’s how it looks on my lips:
I usually go for deeper blue-based reds, but this is definitely a beautiful shade!!! I can see myself wearing it if I just want a “bare” face and a nice pop of red. Very simplistic and classy, just like NARS!
It pretty much wore throughout the day. It has a texture like I’ve never seen before. It’s like a creamy silky texture. It almost felt like a very opaque lip gloss, so I thought it wasn’t going to last all day. Thankfully, it did. I’m not sure what’s in this stuff that made it last all day given the texture, but it’s pretty cool. One thing that I really appreciated is that it did not jack up my lips, unlike several of my favorite matte liquid lipsticks by Coloured Raine. As much as I adore the colors, they dry out my lips something fierce. The Velvet Lip Glide is quite comfortable on the lips and dare I say it actually moisturizes them! (I didn’t have to put lip balm underneath, so that’s a great thing!)
The other lip colors are beautiful. I recommend them to us browner-skinned folks! I also recommend this to people who don’t really care for the look of the currently, ever-so-popular UBER matte liquid lipsticks…which can look quite harsh.
If you can justify spending $26 on this lip product, then I suggest you head on over to a NARS counter, boutique or Sephora and check it out! (Here’s the info!)
